Rob Amey is a photographer, filmmaker, and academic based in the UK. His work explores the multifaceted relationship between spirituality, technology, folklore and the landscape. He is currently a PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow, where his thesis focuses on 21st-century British Folk Horror cinema, exploring themes of identity, community and anxiety around technology, through the lens of posthumanism.
As a filmmaker and photographer, his most recent work attempts to explore and capture the essence of ancient landscapes and historic sites of the South West of England. Anima, investigates the spiritual connection between the land, its inhabitants, celebration and ritual whilst emphasising the historical significance of these landscapes to local communities and is an ongoing project.
Rob is currently a Progression Leader and Senior Lecturer in Film and Animation at Arts University Bournemouth where he combines his expertise in filmmaking and photography to educate students in the fields of documentary, experimental film, and storytelling. His work has been published and exhibited internationally with multiple projects currently in production.
